Upcoming event: Cairo by Chris Womersley

If you enjoy reading novels set in Melbourne you might well enjoy Chris Womersley's Cairo. In the 1980s Fitzroy was bohemian, and old run-down deco apartments like “Cairo” were home to numerous eclectic groups. In 1986 Picasso’s “Weeping Woman” was stolen from the NGV. Chris Womersley weaves the bizarre events surrounding this theft into his latest best-selling novel. It is a tale of the meaning of art, loss of innocence and the workings of a sub-culture.

On Wednesday, 25 June Chris Womersley, who has won numerous awards and has been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin, will be discussing Cairo at Sam Merrifield Library. There are just six tickets left today, so book quickly for the chance to hear one of the rising stars of Australian literature.

Sam Merrifield Library Wednesday, 25 June, 7pm Free, bookings necessary Book online or call 8325 1950
